I left Somalia in 1987 when I was 14 years old and then four years later in 1991 Somalia fell into an unprecedented level of chaos and anarchy. It is 32 years later, I’m getting close to 50 and Somalia is still slowly stumbling back towards a functioning government. Whatever happens though: It is, and always has been, a nation of poets and singers.
